The Cultural Ambassador Program is the crown jewel of The Revert Project. Inspired by my wanting of a Muslim friend who could relate to areas of Islam that clashed with my cultural upbringing and family traditions, The Cultural Ambassador Program attempts to provide all Muslim Reverts or those considering reverting with an opportunity to connect with a Muslim from their culture/nationality. Ambassadors come from Asia, North America, Africa, Europe, and more! They are here to answer your questions, discuss Islam, and help guide you on your journey through Islam!

EGYPT 🇪🇬 Sara Abdelfattah
From : Cairo, Egypt
Ethnicity : Egyptian
Places Lived : Egypt
Languages : English, Arabic
Islamic Interests : Faith & Tawakul, Modesty, Salah & Duaa (The Connection to Allah)
Dawah Strategies : A lenient yet a realistic approach towards the concern or the intended topic. I believe every answer should always be directed towards Islamic roots while providing the reasons behind it or the correct way of performing an act. However, it should always be kept in mind that the other person may have different values and deep rooted ideals that may arise some difficulties through guidance, so evidence like Hadeeth or Quran should definitely be quoted as to inspire them to come back to these resources in times of doubt. Of course, an encouraging attitude and patience should be there! :)

KAZAKHSTAN 🇰🇿 Rustem Khassanov
From : Astana, Kazakhstan
Ethnicity : Kazakh
Places Lived : Kazakhstan, UAE
Languages : English, Russian, Kazakh
Islamic Interests : Peace with one’s self, Fulfillment, Community and Brotherhood
Dawah Strategies : I would start with describing how destructive it is to to take ones desires as God instead of recognizing Allah as the only One worth worshipping: the former disadvantages one in this life already, while the latter, in shaa Allah, leads to success in both lives. Then, I’d advocate for the truthfulness and the wisdom of Quran and say that denying it would be a self deception and a proof of nonobjectivity. From this stage, I think it is important to leave the person alone, give him/her space for thought and don’t push too hard; in the meantime, make dua for the person.
-
ETHIOPIA 🇪🇹 Muna Ahmed
From : Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Ethnicity : Amhara
Places Lived : Ethiopia, UAE
Languages : English, Amharic, Arabic (Intermediate)
Islamic Interests : Ethics and Morality in Islam, Women in Islam, Charity, and Zaakat
Dawah Strategies : My approach for talking non Muslims about Islam would be to show them what the Quran really teaches delicately through my actions(treating them good, offering help….) so I can be able to make them feel interested. Besides the basic do’s and don’ts more than half part of the Quran teaches about ethics and morality which many people do not realize. For example, the Quran never mentioned the Christian and the Jews without saying “O people of the book” indicating they were people of revealed religion. We can see that there exists a relationship of mercy between Muslim and non Muslims all ruled by common principles of religion sent by Allah through his prophets.

Ethnicity : Hui Chinese

I live in China for my whole life and see things have been consistently going both wrong and well when it comes to existence of Islam and other religions, which all worth a serious discussion.
